History
Living Stones Christian Church was launched in 2004 by a group of 15 young adults as a natural transition from a young adult small group ministry called Living Stones Fellowship (LSF). LSF was the young adults ministry (20-30, post-undergrad) of Chinese for Christ Church in Berkeley (www.cfcberkeley.org) started in 2000 by a group including Pastor Josh. Pastor Josh had been a core leader of the LSF ministry extending the ministry to partnership with other young adults fellowship in creation of a network of young adults ministry partnerships called JYAG (www.jyag.org). This ministry sought to establish young adults small groups in every part of the SF Bay Area so that post-college 20-somethings would have no excuse to find community and fellowship. Pastor Josh's vision was to mobilize a movement to establish spiritual communities for the season after college and in the first 5-10 years of the working life. After 4 years, LSF had grown to 6 core small groups of 60 people with a network 6 other churches involved in a quarterly JYAG Large group meeting. There was a need to focus, so the LSF ministry split into 3 small groups in the North, and 3 small group in the South. The south 3 small groups would later become LSCC.
LSCC Essence:
There was a need for a ministry young adults out of college, working, and beginning to start families in the Silicon Valley. With many other churches launching around the same time, the core leaders of LSCC decided that instead of joining another church that had different values, that the LSF-South community would be more effective to God's vision for them by establishing a fellowship that was founded on sound bible teaching, authentic community and worship, missionary strategic, and committed to raising up spiritual leaders for the next generation. In addition, LSCC is committed to partnering and working with other churches, para-churches, and missions/compassions/social justice organizations. The is no intention to be a large church of 1000 or 10,000 people. LSCC does not plan to grow over 50-100 people. But God has brought this body together to mobilize a generation to be full-time ministers in the Silicon Valley wherever they are working.
Statement of Faith
1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired; it is the only infallible, entirely trustworthy, authoritative Word of God. The Bible alone and in its entirety, is the Word of God written and is therefore inerrant in the autographs.
2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is a Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each an uncreated person, one in essence, equal in power and glory.
3. We believe in the deity and kingship of our Lord Jesus the Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection on the third day, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory as King.
4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people it is by faith in our Lord Jesus the Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and purposed to witness and work for the ministry of the Kingdom.
6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus the Christ with Jesus as the head of the church, who dwells amongst the saints, and the evidence of that unity being shown by how we love one another.
